NEP - Environmental health campaign

Ambjent Aħjar, Saħħa Aħjar (A better environment for better health)

In line with measure 2.2.4 in the National Environment Policy, this campaign aimed to improve environmental health by raising awareness of the following environmental health issues:
  • air pollution from transport;
  • indoor air quality;
  • noise;
  • chemicals; and,
  • radiation.

Since the campaign focused on changing behaviour, a list of simple personal actions that can be taken to reduce one’s exposure to environmental health risks, as well as to reduce polluting behaviour, has been put together.

The key messages of the campaign are:
  • that there are steps one can take to reduce one's exposure to environmental health risks,
  • that there are steps one can take to reduce polluting behaviour, and
  • reducing the pollution one creates is part of being a good neighbour.

This campaign is being conducted jointly by the Department for Environmental Health; the Tourism and Sustainable Development Unit within the Ministry for Tourism, Culture and the Environment; the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority; the Malta Environment & Planning Authority; and, the Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.
